The Sumo-X Fat Shorty Rear Fender for the Yamaha Stryker. (fits up to 250mm rear tire with an 8.5 x 18" rear rim.

Wheel pre-assembly
These are the parts you need to transfer from the stock wheel to your new Sumo-X wheel.
On the left side remove and install (R&I) the center distance spacer, the left outer spacer and the cush drive inserts.

Here is the wheel looks like when these parts are installed.

On the right side you must R&I your stock bearing snap ring and dust seal.
The snap ring must be used.

Install the tire, stock pulley and wheel into the swing arm. It works best to leave the brake caliper and pads off when installing the wheel and install the pads and caliper after the wheel is in and adjusted.

Fender Kit Install

Cut the stock frame as shown in the photo. Notice we cut the top bar first to gain access. Take note of the cut line.

Before installing the fender, drill the hole that remains in the frame to 5/16". You will only need to drill the second (inner) layer of the metal in this operation. If you are using this hole for signal lights with a 3/8" hollow bolt then drill this hole to 3/8".

If you are using turn signals please read and understand the following carefully!

You have a few choices as to where you mount the lights, On this bike we chose to mount them further forward than most of you will. Keep in mind not everybody uses turn signals! Notice this is the second hole from the front of the fender, this matches to the third hole on the strut. ONLY DRILL THIS HOLE IF YOU ARE USING SIGNALS THAT REQUIRE A 3/8" HOLE

OPTION 2 IS TO USE THE NEXT SET OF HOLES BACK FURTHER, THESE ARE 1/4" FROM US.
Drill the second option set of holes to the correct size need for the lights you are using.
Keep in mind if you are using chassis grounding lights you may need to add a ground wire to get proper grounding.
Drill the fender first and the strut second. see pics A and B.

Also since we were using a chassis ground light and using the front holes we ground the paint off of the inside of the frame to get a good ground.

Slip the fender on from the top and install bolts in the existing holes (both sides) that you drilled larger in the frame.

Line the fender up before drilling the furthest forward bolt location through the strut and into the frame.
The frame is thick at that location so you must mark this and drill a 1/8" pilot hole!
The best way to do this is to line up the fender and use a 5/16' transfer punch.
An alternate way of doing this is to use a 5/16" drill bit to mark the center, then drill the pilot hole and follow up with the 5/15" drill. THIS HOLE MUST BE STRAIGHT .
Do the left and right holes independently, checking the fender alignment with the rear tire as you are doing this. Once the forward most strut location holes are drilled, install the 5/16"x2" bolts and tighten, then continue with drilling the next two holes in the same manor as the first.

You may need to trim the inner splash shield to clear the second set of strut mounting bolts. see pic.
